The Handmade Tour. The Way

After last year’s success, this 2021 on the occasion of the Xacobeo Year, we launched “The Handmade Tour: El Camino”. An initiative to give visibility and support to the local economy through small artisans from our country who are located on different pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela.

Objective

Our aim with this project is to support SMEs, especially the smallest and the local economy. Thus, we launch The Handmade Tour 2021, linking the project with several existing pilgrimage routes of “El Camino de Santiago”, representing Spanish diversity in terms of hospitality, art and culture. From all the routes that start in different points in Spain, we selected 3 main ones, and created the itineraries of the “Handmade Tour Special Edition Camino de Santiago 2021”.In each of the “3 Ways” we looked for a selection of workshops/craft shops that have been the core of the project, as was done last year.

In addition, in order to give visibility to the project and to the participating artisans, a special area has been created within the Amazon.es/Handmade store: The Handmade Tour: The Way

The Idea

  1. Tactical
  • Development of creative concept
  • Selection of 3 pilgrimage paths:
    • Camino del Norte – French Way – Via de la Plata
  • Search and selection of 7 artisans, 2 for each pilgrim route plus 1 where the 3 roads in Galicia converge.
  • Recording of contents and testimonies in each localization/crafted workshop and then producing/creating a series of materials/pieces for disseminating and communicating the action.
  • Video Concept: Under the narrative of the concept The Handmade Tour El Camino de Santiago we created a video that showed the charms of the regions through which each path runs, in addition to the workshops/shops and the testimonies of the selected artisans, being themselves who told us the details of their projects.
  • Digital dossier: Where we present the routes of the “Walks” and the artisans of each route, in addition to all the details of the work they do and the products they sell, and the environment around them.
  • Social Media: 30 ̈ pills recorded with each artisan that are published on social networks, during the months of June and July.
